Since KLM's policy for cancellations and delays align with the official EU and UK passenger rights regulations, you rights are as follows:
• If your flight was delayed and you arrived at your final destination more than 3 hours later than expected, you are entitled to compensation.
•If your flight has been cancelled less than 14 days before departure, you may be refunded or put on an alternative flight.
• Any incurred costs (hotels, meals and transport) will be covered by the airline.
Step 1:
• Keep an eye open for any updates on your flight status through the KLM app or through email inbox.
Step 2:
•If your flight was cancelled, you can ask a member of staff at the check-in counter to re-book you on an alternative flight.
Step 3:
• Don't throw away any receipts for incurred costs, as you may be refunded for them.
Step 4:
• Once you have read the criteria for claiming KLM cancelled or delayed flight compensation, you can start your claim and our trusted partner will take your case to KLM.
The compensation amount you can claim is purely dependent on the distance of your flight, and under EU261/2004, you are only entitled to compensation if your KLM flight delay meets the criteria below:
•Your flight must have landed or departed from the EU or the UK.
•Your flight must have arrived at your destination more than 3 hours later than the expected time.

In the event that have experienced cancelled flight with KLM, you can ask to be put on an alternative flight to your destination. However, as per EU261, you are also entitled to compensation, provided that you you meet the below eligibility criteria:
•You were informed of your flight cancellation 14 days prior to your departure.
•Your flight was not cancelled by concerning weather conditions or a possible security threat.
You are entitled to the below amounts in KLM compensation, provided that your flight disruption meets the above criteria.
The below amounts apply for those who have been affected by flight delays, cancelled flights, were denied boarding or missed their connecting flight.
• €250/ £220 for flights with a distance of 1500km or less;
• €400/ £350 for flights with a distance of more than 1500km;
• €600/ £520 for flights over 3500km or more.
If your flight was cancelled and rebooked, you may still be entitled to KLM compensation if:
•your alternative flight arrived at your destination more than 3 hours later than the original arrival time.
•your flight either departed from or arrived in the EU or the UK.
Remember: do not accept any vouchers from KLM if they give you the option to pick vouchers instead of compensation. Compensation is your passenger right and is protected under EU law.

According to the KLM refund policy, you can cancel any flight within 24 hours of booking, and you may receive a refund free of charge. According to the official KLM website, you can check in online any time from 30 hours before departure. If you decide to check in at a check-in desk, then you you need make sure that you have arrive to the airport 2-3 hours before your flight because there might be a que. The check-in desks will stay open until 40 minutes before departure.
If you have booked a standard economy class ticket, then the you may check-in 1 item of checked baggage (max weight of 23kg), however, you do have the option to purchase an extra bag.
If you have booked an economy class ticket then you can check on 2 bags, each with a max weight of 32kg.
