  • Meals and refreshments if your flight has been delayed for more than 2 hours.

  • If your overall flight distance was over 1,500 km, then you have the right to claim compensation.


  • If your flight has been delayed to the following day and you require a hotel to stay overnight, then Aer Lingus will cover the hotel costs and the transportation to the hotel.

       1) Monitor for any updates on the status of your flight. Aer Lingus will notify you via email if there has been any changes to the departure time.


        2) Go to the Aer Lingus counters and request a meal voucher.


         3) Save all correspondences between you and the airline.


4) Save receipts for any incurred costs (refreshments , meals, hotels and transport).

When can you claim compensation for delayed flight?

Under 2004 EU 261 Regulation, any flight that has arrived at the final destination ( in the EU or the UK) 3 hours later than the scheduled time is a delay and you have the right to claim compensation from Aer Lingus.


If your flight was delayed, due to severe weather conditions or possible security threats, you are not entitled to compensation, as these situations are out of the airlines control.

•Flights less than 1500km ‣ you are entitled to €250 in compensation.


• Flights between 1500-3500km ‣ you are entitled to €400 in compensation.


•Flights over 3500km ‣ you are entitled to €600 in compensation.


If Aer Lingus is able to offer you re-routing your destination and your flight is more than in 3500km in distance, compensation for your Aer Lingus delayed flight will be reduced by 50%.


Remember: hotels and meal vouchers do not suffice for your flight disruption. Compensation is your legal right. Make sure that you claim everything that you are entitled to.

How to claim compensation for an Aer Lingus delayed flight

These steps apply to anyone who has faced any type of flight disruption with Aer Lingus in the past 3 years and recognizes their entitlement to compensation. Every person on your booking is entitled to compensation; therefore, please make sure that you keep all flight booking references and details. 

Step 1

Make sure that you are eligible to make a claim for one of the below types of flight disruptions:
